I promise to uphold the principles of the Great Physician in my Acupuncture practitioner's oath. I will serve to live in harmony with nature and teach my patients to do the same. I will strive to maintain a clear mind and hold myself to the highest standards. It will be my duty to diagnose suffering and treat disease as part of my integrative medicine oath. I shall view those in grief as if I have been struck myself and empathize with them deeply. Whoever suffers from disease and illness may be looked upon with contempt by others, but I shall maintain an attitude of compassion, empathy, and care. In no way shall I exhibit an attitude of rejection. I will treat all patients alike—whether powerful or humble, rich or poor, old or young, beautiful or ugly, resentful relatives or kind friends, nationals or foreigners, fools or wise men. I shall not emphasize my own reputation or belittle my fellow practitioners while praising my own virtue. Neither dangerous mountain passes nor the time of day, nor weather conditions, hunger, thirst, or fatigue shall keep me from helping wholeheartedly. Above all, I will keep an open heart, not driven by greed for material things. I understand that if I pursue the correct path, I will receive great happiness as a reward. With this oath, I shall fulfill my responsibilities and my destiny as a practitioner in my patient care commitment to each and every individual who seeks help from me, until I am no longer capable of fulfilling my obligations or until the end of this lifetime.
